2 Decades in 2 Paragraphs
Amir's professional journey spans two decades and is characterised by academic study and practical experimentation with industry partners. This experience has honed his project management skills in software engineering and digital electronics. His work in automation and robotics has sparked a deep interest in Human-Robot Interaction, particularly in light of recent advances in machine-learning frameworks and open electronics. During his PhD research, Amir shifted from integrating Information Communication Technology (ICT) into education to exploring human perception and behaviour. This strategic change led to the development of his "Dispositive Networks" theory, which explains the evolution of human cognition and action. He integrated this theory into his ethnographic research, earning a distinction and later expanding it to Human-Robot Interaction system design, where his current research continues to evolve.
Amir’s life and professional path are closely intertwined. In 2015, it was his late wife "Nasrin" who, with her love for Chinese culture and curiosity about its people, encouraged him to remain in China for “just a few more years.” What began as a temporary stay gradually became a life anchored in purpose and belonging. After her passing, Amir was drawn back to China—not only by memory but by the sense of continuity she had kindled. Years later, he met his current partner, a remarkable Chinese woman whose companionship has brought new meaning and stability to his life. She has enriched his deeper understanding of Chinese culture. They have already begun a long process of formal arrangements that will further unite their lives, reflecting their shared commitment and enduring bond. This personal continuity—from his early teaching years in England to his research and innovation in China—embodies a life shaped by both intellectual pursuit and deep human connection.
Upon joining HYIT, Amir had the opportunity to design and establish a robotics lab. He expanded the lab’s capabilities to support students in robotics and AI, leading to its recognition as a distinguished studio for foreign experts by HYIT, Huai’an, and Jiangsu. Under his guidance, postgraduate students registered over ten patents, won numerous awards in robotics competitions, published research papers, authored a textbook on robotics and AI, and received multiple accolades, including the Jiangsu Certificate of Friendship and the Jiangsu Convey Awards in 2020 and 2022.
